Project Overview
The PWCS Carrington project involved the controlled deconstruction and removal of redundant conveyor gantries, transfer structures, trestles and associated structural steelwork throughout the coal terminal.
Works were undertaken within a live industrial environment requiring detailed planning, lift studies, engineering verification, isolation coordination and staged demolition sequencing. The removal methodology focused on safe structural separation, controlled crane lifting and progressive dismantling of steelwork at ground level.

Project Gallery
Removal Methodology
Engineering & Lift Planning
Detailed lift studies, SWMS, crane coordination and staged demolition planning were completed prior to removal works. Lift weights, lifting points, crane positions and rigging arrangements were reviewed before each stage of work.
Structural Preparation
Non-structural components, idlers, pipework and redundant attachments were removed where required. Connection bolts between adjacent gantries were progressively removed to isolate each section prior to lifting.
Controlled Gantry Removal
Gantry sections were removed using mobile cranes, spreader bars, engineered lift points and controlled lifting methods. Each section was lifted clear, lowered to ground level and placed within designated processing areas.
Processing & Demobilisation
Removed steelwork was dismantled into transportable sections, processed for disposal or recycling, loaded out from site and followed by final clean-up, inspections and demobilisation.
